I always have clients tell me they want candid shots and I thought this family was a perfect example of a great mix between candid and posed shots.
In order to get good candid shots you have to be comfortable, and not be too worried about looking goofy or silly. Don't worry about doing something wrong, if anything you're doing doesn't translate well for the photo I promise I'll tell you, but other than that just have fun and don't be afraid to make each other giggle or be playful during a shoot.
The absolute most important thing you can do to get great family shots is have fun, don't worry about everything being perfect or making sure your children are behaving perfectly. I have lots of patience for kids and I'm happy to wait them out and let them get some wiggles and giggles out every now and then, those times often make for the best candids!
